Welcome to SoulScribe. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SoulScribe mobile application ("App") developed by Preston Lau ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

SoulScribe is a spiritual journaling application that allows you to create journal entries, track spiritual habits, log prayers and gratitude, set reminders, and engage with motivational content. The App is available on iOS and offers both free and premium subscription tiers.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use SoulScribe. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

3. Account Registration

• You must provide a valid email address and create a password to register.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

4.1 Subscription Plans

SoulScribe offers the following subscription options:

• Free: Access to basic features at no cost
• Premium Monthly: $3.99 per month with a 7-day free trial
• Premium Annual: $29.99 per year with a 7-day free trial

4.2 Premium Features

Premium subscribers receive access to:

• Video and photo motivational content
• AI-powered personalization
• Unlimited device access
• Unlimited image uploads in journal entries
• Analytics and insights
• Data export capabilities

4.3 Billing and Renewal

• All payments are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not directly handle your payment information.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
• Free trial periods: If offered, any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

4.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to premium features until the end of the paid period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.

4.5 Restoring Purchases

If you reinstall the App or switch devices, you can restore your existing subscription using the "Restore Purchases" option within the App.

5. User Content

5.1 Ownership

You retain full ownership of all content you create within the App, including journal entries, photos, voice memos, prayer requests, gratitude entries, and any other personal content ("User Content").

5.2 License

By using the App, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the App's services to you. We will not use your User Content for any other purpose without your explicit consent.

5.3 Responsibility

You are solely responsible for your User Content. You agree not to create or upload content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App, other users' accounts, or our systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's infrastructure or services
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Use the App to transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the App
• Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, features, logos, and content (excluding User Content), is owned by Preston Lau and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without our prior written consent.

8. Account Deletion and Termination

8.1 By You

You may delete your account at any time through the App's Privacy Settings. Account deletion permanently and irreversibly removes all your data from our servers, including journal entries, profile information, habits, goals, reminders, and all other associated content.

8.2 By Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or use the App in a manner that could harm other users or our services. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before termination unless immediate action is required.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

SoulScribe provides spiritual journaling tools and motivational content for personal reflection. The App does not provide professional counseling, medical advice, or mental health treatment. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Preston Lau and SoulScribe shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or personal injury, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App.

Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the App shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Preston Lau, SoulScribe, and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

12. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services (Supabase, Sentry, RevenueCat, Expo) as described in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the practices or policies of these third-party services. Your use of their services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using the App and delete your account.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the App shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue to be in full force and effect.
